VCU Jobs User Guide
Welcome to the VCU Jobs User Guide! This space provides user documentation for the VCU Jobs applicant tracking and recruitment management system.
Overview
VCU Jobs, which is run through the PageUp platform, is an online Applicant Tracking System (ATS) for managing the recruiting process for both benefited and non-benefited employees (except for student worker positions), as well as postdoctoral employees. This new streamlined system integrates with Banner for position numbers, streamlines the hiring process, and simplifies the applicant experience with improved look and feel. PageUp replaced the former Talent@VCU Recruiting (Cornerstone) applicant tracking system on October 1, 2025.
VCU Jobs enables the creation, updating, and ongoing maintenance of departmental position descriptions, allowing for the reuse of existing position descriptions in job postings. In the system, you may monitor open positions, manage applicant pools, and schedule onboarding using direct integration. Should you have any questions regarding the recruitment process, please contact vcujobs@vcu.edu with the subject line ‘PageUp ATS’.

Terms and Roles within VCU Jobs
The VCU Jobs PageUp applicant tracking system (ATS) is organized around three main cards: 1) Position Description Card (PD), 2) Job Card, and 3) Offer Card. The terms below will assist hiring managers to efficiently utilize features for all recruitment and onboarding processes.
Position Description (also referred to as “PD”) The form used to record the duties, responsibilities, minimum and preferred qualifications, supervisory, and serves as the basis for determining title, salary, and exemption status.
Job Card: PageUp form used to submit a requisition to recruit.
Offer Card: PageUp form used to select a candidate for an offer of employment.
Approval Process: The sequence of approvers needed to post a vacancy or select a candidate for an offer.
Application Status: The different steps an applicant goes through during the recruitment process.
Applicant Card: Individual application details and history.
VCU Jobs Dashboard: Your personalized landing page that provides an overview of pending actions and quick access to system functionalities, such as managing job applications, creating position descriptions, and reviewing approvals. It displays key information and tasks relevant to your specific role, with clickable tiles and links to navigate to different parts of the VCU Jobs portal.
Permission Groups: Access level assigned to each user; HR assigns permissions in consultation with department needs.
Hamburger menu: A navigation button characterized by three stacked horizontal lines that, when selected, reveals menu items. In VCU Jobs, this is typically located at the top left corner of your screen.
Hiring Manager: Will coordinate the entire hiring process for the search, including submission of the Offer Card, first-round candidates, and interview questions; serves as the primary point of contact with HR.
Raising: Raising means creating. For example, we may say 'raising a requisition'.
Requisition: A job card creates a requisition that you use to advertise a position. A 'requisition' is position data gathered and formatted for advertising to potential applicants. You can think of this as the VCU Jobs terminology for 'job posting'.
Search Committee and Search Chair: Reviews all applicants and makes recommendations for the first-round of candidate interviews.
Template: A template is used to create a requisition for adjunct, exempt temporary, hourly, and post doc employees since they do not have a position description to start from.
