As you create a requisition you will notice two options at the bottom right of your screen. One option will say Submit and the other will say Submit and Manage Postings.

If you click Submit, the requisition will be submitted to any listed approvers for approval, but it will not get posted to the career site.

After you have completed each of the steps to create the requisition, click Submit and Manage Postings. That will take you to a screen that looks like the image below:

Regardless of what requisition type you created (staff, faculty, hourly, etc.), always check the VCU Career Site box. This will ensure the requisition is posted to the main VCU career site, where all position types are posted. If you do not click the VCU Career Site box, then the job will not post to the career site. You can edit the effective dates of the posting so that the position is only posted for a pre-defined period of time. It is recommended that you add an effective end date to the posting.

Once you have checked the box and filled in any applicable effective dates, click Post. You will see a green banner that says "Successfully posted to Career Site(s)" at the top as well as a URL just below the career site name. That URL is a direct URL to the posting on the career site.

Note: The requisition will not be posted until it is approved by any named approvers listed on the requisition. If no approvers are listed, the requisition will be posted automatically.

While the URL in the above screenshot is a direct link to the posting on the career site, it may take 30 minutes for candidates to have the ability to view the posting.

2. Internal Career Sites and Direct Appointments

Talent Recruiting has an Internal Career Site that allows recruiters and requisition owners to post a position to VCU employees only. However, not all VCU employees have access to the Internal Career Site. If you post a position to the internal career site only, then only University employees and select Faculty will be able to apply. Therefore, it is recommended to only to post a requisition as Internal only if the hiring team is looking to source from a specific group (i.e. University employees and select faculty). Furthermore, because the Internal Career Site does not capture all VCU users, it may be beneficial to also post internal jobs on the external Career Site. If an internal position is posted on the external career site, it is important to add the statement to the posting that the job is for current VCU employees only. (It may also be appropriate to add a disqualifying prescreen question for those who apply and are not current VCU employees.)

In order to post a position to the Internal Career Site, scroll down to the Internal Career Site section of the Submit and Manage Postings Screen.

Check the "Enable specific users to view this requisition..." box. Click “Select OU Criteria”, click All Users from the dropdown, click “Add” and click Post.

Direct Appointments

If you are creating a requisition for a Direct Appointment, when you arrive at the Submit and Manage Postings screen, check the “Direct Appointment” Career Site only. Next, click Post to obtain a link to share with the identified applicant. Make sure no other career sites are selected. You will see a URL appear below the career site. You must copy and paste this URL and send it to the candidate so they can apply.
