Approving a Requisition or Offer Letter

Approving a Requisition or Offer Letter

This step only applies to staff who are listed as the requisition approver(s) (generally the HRP or HRA in some cases).

After the requisition has been created, it should be submitted for approval to the appropriate person. If an approver is listed on the requisition, the requisition will not appear on the career site until it is approved. Please note: There should always be an approver listed. If there isn’t, then the requisition can be created and posted without approval. It is incumbent on the department to ensure there are appropriate approvers.

The approver needs to follow the below steps to review and approve requisitions. The approver will receive an email notifying them that there is an item pending their approval in Talent.

  1. Login to Talent at https://vcu.csod.com

  2. Go to Recruiting Approvals under Recruit

3. You will see the requisition pending approval under the Requisitions or Offer Letters tab.

4. To approve, click on the green checkmark on the right and then click submit

The above process is identical whether you are approving a Requisition or Offer Letter.

Once approved, the requisition will be posted to the career sites that were selected during the requisition creation process by the requisition owner (again, generally the HRP/ HRA). Until approved, the req will sit in a 'pending approval' status. If changes are needed,  the req owner changes the status back to “draft” in order to make any changes, and then resubmits. The other option to make changes is for the approver to 'deny' the req and then the req owner has to start over and recreate the req. Once approved, it can take up to 30 minutes for the requisition to become visible on the Talent@VCU career site(s) once it is approved, and up to 24 hours to appear on sites that our jobs scrape to.
