UNDERSTANDING ACTION REASONS

Introduction: Below is a list and description of personnel and position actions that are processed by HRIS Operations when documents are submitted by HR Professionals and HR Associates. Once processed, the action reason is found under the job detail tab in the NBAJOBS form in Banner. 

General

  • If hiring an employee who currently has a job into an additional job

Use this code if employee is changing to a different Home or Timesheet ORG with no other changes

UOA

Off-cycle - Equity Adjustment

Increase salary to align pay with market or others doing similar work. This code is for University employees.

UOD

Off-cycle - Change of Duties

Increase salary due to change in duties. This code is for University employees

UOR

Off-cycle - Retention

Increase salary due to retention needs. This code is for University employees

VIS

Work authorization ended

Employee’s visa is expiring, will terminate the employee’s job

*FSR

Special Rate - Begin

Employee is receiving a temporary salary supplement that is not part of the annual/base salary for:

  • temporary duties in the same or different position;
  • interim appointments.

Faculty Off-Cycle Adjustment (FOC) must include an end date that will require renewal upon expiration. (See information under Faculty eClasses)

** If Special Rate is included with a New Hire, then separate submission is needed to establish SR.

After competitive recruitment, a move to a University job code with salary midpoint that is lower than one’s current midpoint. (Typically, the midpoint is  more than $2,000 lower.)

Reduce FTE due to Temporary Workforce Reduction (TWFR)

TWFR Begin - Reduce FTE

Reduce FTE due to Temporary Workforce Reduction (TWFR).

Temporary Pay - Higher Role

Temporary increase in salary due to assuming new duties and responsibilities on a temporary basis, usually to cover work normally performed in a higher pay band; not to exceed the pay band maximum of the employee’s current pay band.

Transfer - In Lieu of Layoff

Moving to a position in the same pay band, in lieu of layoff.

CTS
