Grade

  1. The Grade field on the requisition is the field we are using to notate job code level. Grade is not a required field, but its purpose is to identify what level of job code the requisition is for. For example, if you are creating a requisition for an IT Analyst 2 you will need to select Base level job code.

Selecting the Base job code indicates that you are creating a requisition for the first three levels of that job code. So, in this example you are creating a requisition for an IT Analyst levels 1-3.

To set the exact level of the job code for which you are recruiting, use the Grade field.

2. When you click the box next to Grade, click Recruiting

3. You will see this screen and have two options.

4. Clicking University Staff will allow you to search for the exact level of the job code for which you want to recruit. For instance, if you are using the Base job code for IT Analyst, knowing  you want to recruit for an IT Analyst 2 then you can click on University Staff in the screen above and search for that exact job code.

Clicking Multi level will allow you to set a range for the requisition. The purpose of this is for when you are unsure what level you want to hire, or if you're unsure whether you may want to hire a senior level IT Analyst. When you click Multi level you will see the below:

Selecting 1-3 designates the requisition for a base level job, and selecting 4-6 designates the requisition for a senior level job. Selecting Open designates the requisition for either a base or senior level job.
